Moving Forward— A Message from Mary Lou
Many thanks to all who contributed to my Senate campaign with their talent, energy, and treasure. We made inroads into true-blue Travis County with a conservative message of low taxes, deregulation, and parental school choice. Although we didn’t win the seat, that message was sent loud and clear, and I am confident it will have a ripple effect in holding back the Democratic agenda that would have made Texas look more like California—-with more money for politicians, less for families and good businesses.
We now face 2012. With the improved state and federal legislatures, I will continue to work for the agenda that I outlined during the campaign. Expect to hear more from me on this.
The federal issues on which we should focus are out-of-control taxes and debt, repealing politician-run medical care, creating a productive immigration policy, and national defense.
The Texas issues are improving the climate for entrepreneurship by reducing meaningless regulation, ending corporate hand-outs, and parental school choice. A major task of the Texas legislature should be to protect homeowners and businesses from over-reaching local government that is defeating the free market direction supported by state policy.
As the Holidays approach, may we all be blessed with the spirit of generosity and gratitude that so characterizes Texas.
Onward!
Mary Lou
